As the global COVID-19 vaccination rate averages over 60%, countries with a higher dependence on the tourism industry have also begun to gradually open their borders.
The Republic of the Union of Myanmar (hereinafter referred to as Myanmar), starting from 00:01 on December 1, 2022, will exempt travelers entering Myanmar on commercial flights who provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, or, for those not fully vaccinated, a negative RT-PCR nucleic acid test report within 48 hours before boarding, from undergoing an RDT rapid test after entry.
Myanmar officials stated that the country’s confirmed case rate has been below 1% for 14 consecutive days, the confirmed case rate of travelers entering Myanmar on international commercial flights is also below 1%, and the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination rate is very high. Therefore, starting from 00:01 on December 1, 2022, travelers entering Myanmar on commercial flights who provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, and those not fully vaccinated who provide a negative RT-PCR test report within 48 hours before boarding, will not need to undergo an RDT rapid test.
However, travelers on relief flights and those entering through land borders must still follow the public health regulations issued on October 8, 2022.
