The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced to all international visitors that the famous attraction Wat Arun (also known as the Temple of Dawn) introduced a new visitor entry system and fee structure starting January 1, 2020. Travelers planning to visit Thailand this year should understand the changes in advance.

On the fee side, from June 1, 2020, the entrance fee for Wat Arun will rise from the current 50 baht per person to 100 baht per person.

There are three entry points to the temple: Mae Phueak Pier, the Wat Arun ferry pier, and Wang Doem Road. All three have now been equipped with the latest visitor management system, including a barcode reader and an automatic counter of people entering.

In addition, closed-circuit television cameras have now been fully installed throughout Wat Arun, both to protect this kind of artistic heritage building and to safeguard the personal safety of visitors.

Wat Arun is famous for its towering 66.8-meter pagoda, decorated with seashells and Chinese porcelain that glitters in the sunlight. Under the guidance of Thailand’s Fine Arts Department, a three-year restoration was carried out to ensure the safety of the pagoda’s base, completed in 2017.
