When you buy a new computer monitor or TV screen, after the delivery person finally brings the big box and you’ve connected all the cables, the very first thing to do is power it on and test whether the screen has bright dots, dark dots, or color-shifted dots — product defects commonly known as dead pixels.

Introduction to Dead Pixel Test Modes

We have specially built a set of test pages covering five solid-color display modes:

  • Black test (Black LCD LED Screen Monitor Testing): used to test for always-on bright dots;
  • White test (White Testing): used to test for always-on dark dots;
  • Red test (Red Testing): used to test whether red dots fail to display;
  • Green test (Green Testing): used to test whether green dots fail to display;
  • Blue test (Blue Testing): used to test whether blue dots fail to display.

Please click the “Screen Bright/Dark Dot Test Page” links below to open the dedicated full-screen test tool:

Feature Description

On each color display page, a set of high-resolution solid-color background material is provided. Simply open the full-screen view and you can intuitively check with the naked eye whether the screen has any defective dead pixels.

There is a prompt text in a contrasting color at the side of the screen; just click it to open the next color display page, and in this way test one by one whether there are bright dots, dark dots, or other color-shifted dots under different color displays.

Discussion of Results

Since this uses a design that directly displays pure RGB colors via a web page, this author feels it is cleaner than using solid-color images or YouTube screen test videos, and can test the screen better.

The only drawback is probably that the browser must be manually switched to full-screen mode to get the best effect.

By the way, if you’re a computer user, you can directly press the “F11” key on the keyboard to try opening full-screen mode.
