Robert Frank, through the unique visual expression and personal character revealed in his photo book The Americans—a work brimming with contemporary emotional style—became one of the most influential photographers of the twentieth century.

Throughout his long career in image-making, Frank once made a remark about photography and poetry that I particularly love.

“When people look at my pictures I want them to feel the way they do when they want to read a line of a poem twice.”

It fully demonstrates in what pure linguistic form photographic imagery can present itself to people’s eyes within the divide of art and culture.
