Mautic is a popular open-source marketing automation platform used to manage marketing campaigns, website tracking, email workflows, social media, and customer relationship management (CRM).
Within Mautic, you can configure different third-party services—such as Gmail or Amazon SES—as your email transport mechanism to ensure that your campaign messages reach your recipients’ inboxes reliably. In this guide, we will walk through the steps required to configure Zoho Mail as your outgoing SMTP transport in Mautic.
Step 1: Create a Zoho Mail Account
If you do not already have a Zoho Mail account, visit the Zoho Mail official website (https://www.zoho.com/mail) and sign up for an account. Once registered, log in to your Zoho Mail dashboard.
Step 2: Retrieve Zoho Mail SMTP Server Settings
In your Zoho Mail account, click on the “Settings” gear icon in the top right corner. In the settings panel, navigate to “Email Forwarding and POP/IMAP”. Under the “SMTP Access” section, locate your SMTP server details.
Note down the following SMTP configuration details:
- SMTP Server:
smtp.zoho.com - Port:
465 - Username: Your Zoho Mail email address
- Password: Your Zoho Mail password (or an App Password if 2FA is enabled)
- Encryption:
SSL
Step 3: Configure the Email Transport in Mautic
Log in to your self-hosted Mautic dashboard, click the gear icon to access “Configuration”, and select “Email Settings”. Scroll down to the “Service to send mail through” section and select “Other SMTP Server”. Enter the following parameters:
- SMTP Host:
smtp.zoho.com - SMTP Port:
465 - SMTP Encryption:
SSL - SMTP Authentication Mode:
Login - Username: Your Zoho Mail email address
- Password: Your Zoho Mail password (or App Password)
After entering these settings, click the “Test connection” button to verify that Mautic can successfully communicate with Zoho Mail’s SMTP server.
If the credentials and server parameters are correct, a green success message will appear confirming the connection.
Next, click the “Send test email” button to ensure that messages can actually be dispatched through the channel.
In the modal dialog, provide your personal email address and click “Send”. Check your inbox; once you receive the test email, your Zoho Mail transport setup is complete and fully operational.
You can now start broadcasting your marketing campaigns and automated sequences through Zoho Mail. By leveraging Zoho Mail’s trusted mail servers, you help ensure high inbox delivery rates and improve the overall effectiveness of your marketing campaigns.
