In view of the recent tightening alert over the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV, commonly known as the Wuhan virus) outbreak, medical masks (surgical masks, N95 masks) and alcohol (ethanol) have been bought out by the public.
To solve the problem of scarce medical reserve supplies, the Executive Yuan of the Republic of China specially instructed the state-owned enterprises “Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor Corporation (TTL)” and “Taiwan Sugar Corporation (Taisugar)” to engage in the production of 75-degree disinfecting and germicidal epidemic-prevention alcohol.

Accordingly, TTL stated that the first batch of 75-degree epidemic-prevention alcohol produced by the Pingtung Distillery will officially go on sale on the 10th. The first batch has 3,000 dozen, a total of 36,000 bottles, all to be distributed to TTL convenience stores, exhibition centers, and business offices. Each bottle has a capacity of 600ml and is priced at NT$75. To allow more people to purchase the first batch of 75-degree epidemic-prevention alcohol, the limit is 2 bottles per person.
TTL emphasized that the other four distilleries will also join production in the future, able to supply more than 15,000 dozen (180,000 bottles) per day for the nation’s public, guaranteeing ample production capacity for epidemic-prevention alcohol. The public does not need to rush to buy and hoard.
TTL further reminded that because high-concentration alcohol carries a certain degree of danger, the public should pay extra attention to fire safety while preventing the epidemic.
