Chunghwa Post is about to issue very special stamps on the 20th. This is the first launch of “Phonetic Symbol Theme Stamps”. This set of stamps has four series in total, and the first series will include 10 different stamps. Each stamp is printed with a unique phonetic symbol, such as “ㄅ, ㄆ, ㄇ, ㄈ, ㄉ, ㄊ, ㄋ, ㄌ, ㄍ, ㄎ”, and incorporates local characteristic designs, introducing 10 place names and features of the island of Taiwan, the Matsu Islands, and the Penghu Islands.
Yesterday (the 14th), Chunghwa Post issued a press release pointing out that phonetic symbols are an important tool to help children learn language and recognize Chinese characters. In order to increase the fun of learning and appreciate the beauty of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, the company decided to launch a total of four series of phonetic symbol stamps, each series using a denomination of NT$6 and printed in a se-tenant format.
To coincide with the issuance of the phonetic symbol stamps, Chunghwa Post also printed items such as first day covers, stamp cards, protective cards, and loose-leaf stamp collecting cards, which went on sale starting on the 16th.
In addition, Chunghwa Post also produced pre-cancelled first day cover stamp sets, which will go on sale on the day the stamps are issued. The public can purchase them at post offices across the country, the Postal Museum, or the “Chunghwa Post Philatelic E-Mall”. We believe this set of phonetic symbol theme stamps will become a favorite of collectors and enthusiasts!
