Recently, many people have received information claiming that simply by adding a LINE account or downloading a mobile APP, they can chat with the most popular generative AI, ChatGPT AI.
But please be careful: adding these unknown LINE accounts and APPs actually carries serious security risks. Behind these seemingly fun and interesting operations, there is very likely the dark shadow of a scam group.
As long as you download them or add them as a friend and use the ChatGPT chat service they provide, your personal data may be leaked and secretly recorded in the backend by hackers and scam groups, posing a threat to your privacy and security.
We seriously suggest you carefully assess the risks before making a decision. If you cannot judge for yourself whether something is genuine, the author’s advice is: “Always use the web version of ChatGPT provided by OpenAI!” And it is completely free!
ChatGPT is an AI language model, and it has only one official secure version, which is the “web version” (an APP version currently only exists in some foreign countries). Everything else is someone using the API to connect to it. When you use the API connection method, all your conversation content, including your account data, may be leaked to scam groups for secret recording.
If you are in the habit of using LINE, please note that you have no idea whether the person hidden on the other side of the screen is trustworthy. Even your relatives and friends may have just had their accounts stolen. So for any external links recommended by anyone or requests to download apps, please be sure to pay extra attention yourself.
Cybersecurity and disinformation have become the biggest issues in the AI industry, and social engineering methods of extracting information are becoming harder and harder to prevent. To make everyone more alert, please watch out for unreasonable or urgent demands, and use multiple channels to verify what is true and what is false.
In addition, please be careful not to download or install software from unknown sources at will, and avoid using unverified third-party platforms. If you encounter any suspected scam, please report it to the relevant authorities as soon as possible, so that the scammers pay the price they deserve.
If you find yourself in the middle of a scam, please call 110 directly to have the police intervene, or call the 165 anti-fraud hotline for further assistance.
