Regarding the latest entry regulations for COVID-19 announced on February 22, 2021, the Canadian government began enforcing customs controls at midnight Eastern Time (EST) today. Travelers planning to visit Canada recently are reminded to pay attention to the relevant regulations.
Pre-Entry Procedures for Travelers Entering Canada
-
All travelers aged 5 and above entering Canada on international flights must provide proof of a negative nucleic acid test (PCR test) before boarding.
-
The test must be conducted within 72 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight to Canada.
-
Download and use the ArriveCAN APP on your phone to fill in entry information.
- Apple iPhone: Apple App Store.
- Google Android phone: Google Play Store.
-
Complete the PCR nucleic acid test: Book and register.
-
Travelers must book in advance a 3-night stay at a government-designated authorized quarantine hotel (at the traveler’s own expense, including accommodation, transportation arrangements, and security fees, etc.) to await the test results. Those who fail to book a hotel as required by the government will be fined CAD 3,000. Please call the government-announced phone number +1-800-294-8253 (within North America) to make a reservation at a government-designated authorized “hotel website” (cannot be booked directly through the hotel’s official website).
Post-Entry Procedures for Travelers Entering Canada
-
Upon entry at Vancouver International Airport in Canada, all arriving travelers must complete testing at the testing station. If a traveler refuses to be tested, a CAD 3,000 fine will be imposed.
-
After completing the test and obtaining the test kit to be used before the end of the quarantine period, travelers may proceed to the booked authorized hotel for a three-day quarantine stay and await the test results. If the test result is negative, travelers may return home for self-isolation; if positive, they must be arranged for isolation at a government-designated facility.
-
Travelers transiting to domestic Canadian routes must also complete the above procedures at the arrival station (Vancouver) before continuing to their final destination to complete the 14-day quarantine and testing; those transiting to other international routes are not subject to this restriction.
-
On the 10th day after entry, all travelers must still follow the entry quarantine instructions and use the test kit to undergo testing again. They must wait at the quarantine location for the test report, and only after obtaining a negative report is the 14-day quarantine considered complete. If the report is positive, please contact the local health authority as instructed.
-
Those who fail to comply with the aforementioned epidemic prevention regulations will be subject to six months’ imprisonment and a CAD 750,000 fine.
Please note that Canada’s latest entry control measures may be adjusted at any time. Please pay attention to the latest information and refer to official announcements:
