In response to the tax overcollection in fiscal year 2022, the government of the Republic of China specially enacted the “Special Act for Strengthening Economic and Social Resilience in the Post-Pandemic Era and Sharing Economic Achievements with All Citizens” to distribute cash payouts, sharing the tax revenue gains with the people nationwide.
Payout Eligibility
As long as you meet the eligibility criteria within the government-designated time period (not yet announced), everyone can receive NT$6,000!
Eligibility includes:
- Citizens of the Republic of China (including newborns born in Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu who hold a birth certificate);
- Personnel dispatched abroad on official business by government agencies at all levels and their dependents holding our nationality;
- Mainland area residents, Hong Kong and Macau residents, and foreigners who are spouses of our nationals and have obtained residence permits; and
- Foreigners who have obtained permanent residence certificates.
5 Ways to Claim the NT$6,000
The planned distribution methods for the NT$6,000 payout adopt 5 approaches—“online registration and transfer,” “ATM cash withdrawal,” “post office cash withdrawal,” “direct transfer,” and “roster-based distribution in specific remote areas”—for the public’s convenience.
- Online registration and transfer: Register your bank account at the official 6000.gov.tw website
- ATM cash withdrawal: Withdraw at physical ATMs of 12 financial institutions (including post offices)
- Post office cash withdrawal: Withdraw over the counter during post office business hours
- Direct transfer: Specific recipients are transferred directly without registration
- Specific remote areas: Roster-based distribution (Shizi Township in Pingtung County, Wanrong Township in Hualien County, Jinfeng Township in Taitung County)
Beware of Fraud in the Near Term
This cash payout was decided before the Lunar New Year by then-Premier Su Tseng-chang and handled subsequently by the newly appointed Premier Chen Chien-jen. The specific distribution schedule for the cash payout must still wait until the special budget bill completes the statutory process before the Executive Yuan can designate the distribution date.
Because the timeframe spans more than a month, the distribution schedule still cannot be announced. During this period, many fraudulent schemes have appeared, using fake distribution information to commit fraud.
Everyone must be especially careful about fraud in the near term. Do not believe any false information of unknown origin or claiming that money can be obtained privately. If in doubt, please call the 165 anti-fraud hotline.
