With Microsoft and OpenAI about to release the more powerful ChatGPT 4.0, the author asked the current ChatGPT 3 to speculate, based on the extremely rapid pace and breadth of application of artificial intelligence in recent years (such as Midjourney), and considering factors such as the falling prices of Boston Dynamics robots and the integration of A.I. mechanisms, about the development trends of artificial intelligence five years from now, which will affect human society even more deeply — and which 10 jobs will still not be easily replaced by then?

ChatGPT (hereafter CGpt) stated that although there are many uncertainties when predicting future jobs and the impact of artificial intelligence, based on existing trends and technological development, the following are 10 jobs that may not be replaced by AI:

  1. Creative work: Creativity is something AI cannot replicate. This includes artists, writers, designers, and so on.
  2. Psychiatrists and counselors: These professions require human-to-human connection and interpersonal interaction to provide support and treatment.
  3. Educators: Educators need to creatively impart knowledge and must adjust teaching methods to suit students’ needs and abilities.
  4. Health care workers: Doctors and nurses need to apply professional knowledge and judgment to diagnose and treat diseases, and to provide patients with emotional support.
  5. Pilots and flight controllers: These professions require a high degree of professional knowledge and skill, as well as the ability to stay calm in emergencies.
  6. Social media managers and online marketers: These professions require a deep understanding of social media and online marketing strategies to create an effective brand image.
  7. Professional athletes: Professional athletes need a high degree of physical skill and coordination, as well as strong competitiveness and determination.
  8. Scientists and researchers: These professions require conducting complex research and analysis, and need creative thinking and problem-solving.
  9. Repair technicians and craftspeople: These professions require professional skills and knowledge to maintain and repair objects.
  10. Architects and urban planners: These professions require applying creative thinking and professional knowledge to design and build buildings and cities.

CGpt finally added that although AI technology may become even more powerful in the future, the skills and traits required by the above professions are still uniquely human and very difficult to fully replace.

In fact, the human jobs that the above A.I. considers not easily replaceable all roughly share one tendency: they are heavily dependent on personal traits, a kind of “stardom.” To put it another way, people do not expect their counterpart to be as perfect as artificial intelligence, but they do need there to be an attractive quality.

Take professional athletes as an example: the collision of flesh against flesh is exactly what people want to see. Otherwise, with current computer technology, it would already be possible to simulate various professional sports, paired with lifelike virtual athletes, and still play thousands of matches — but that kind of fun seems to be missing just a little something.
