Hiroyuki Ishige, Secretary-General of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, announced the admission ticket pricing scheme for the 2025 World Expo in Osaka (Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan), establishing the baseline adult ticket at 7,500 Japanese Yen. Ishige noted that the association hopes this pricing structure will encourage broad attendance from domestic and international visitors alike.

Prior to the grand opening on April 13, 2025, the association plans to roll out three categories of advance-purchase tickets: the “Opening Ticket” (valid during the first two weeks following the opening), the “Early Bird Ticket” (valid during the first three months through July 18, 2025), and general advance “One-Day Tickets” available through October 2024. The advance One-Day Ticket allows entry on any single day during the expo run. For advance One-Day Tickets, adult admission is priced at 6,000 yen, junior tickets (ages 12 to 17) at 3,500 yen, and child tickets (ages 4 to 11) at 1,500 yen. Advance ticket sales are slated to commence in late November 2023, approximately 500 days before opening day.

Following the opening of the exposition, two primary single-day admission options will be offered at standard rates: standard “One-Day Tickets” valid on any operational day, and discounted “Weekday Tickets” valid exclusively on weekdays. For standard One-Day Tickets, adult admission is 7,500 yen, junior admission is 4,200 yen, and child admission is 1,800 yen. Children aged 3 and younger enjoy free admission.

Additionally, the organizers are evaluating the release of a “Season Pass” to provide unlimited admissions throughout the six-month event duration. Admission passes will be available for purchase digitally via the official Expo Association website and a dedicated mobile application.

The Expo Association projects total attendance to reach 28.2 million visitors across the event’s duration. Historical precedent from previous expositions indicates that visitor numbers surge disproportionately during the second half of the event. To incentivize earlier attendance, smooth visitor flow, and mitigate congestion both inside and surrounding the venue, organizers aim to steer roughly half of all attendees toward advance ticket purchases.

The pricing proposal is awaiting formal governmental approval from the Japanese Cabinet, with final confirmation expected by summer. The announcement provides international travelers and Japan enthusiasts an early opportunity to plan their itineraries for this major global showcase in 2025.
