There’s a saying circulating among the people of Taiwan: “The most perfect life is to live in a British house, earn an American salary, and marry a Japanese woman.” Japanese women’s virtue and gentleness make many men envious.

But if you want to marry a Japanese woman as your wife, be sure to remember never to easily reveal the following three flaws in front of her.

According to a Central News Agency report, the Japanese electronic media outlet “Cakes” reported that a bartender named Hayashi Shinji, who often heard female customers badmouthing men after getting drunk—ranging from dating styles to relationships with their biological mothers, covering a wide range of topics—carefully summarized the following 3 types of men that Japanese women dislike the most.

1. Men Who Are Sloppy.

Hayashi Shinji analyzed that in modern society, no one should go without bathing, so the “sloppiness” women refer to should be about appearance, such as: a dirty or wrinkled collar, long hair, or not carrying a handkerchief, etc.

2. Stingy Men.

Hayashi Shinji believes that as long as a man doesn’t spend money when a woman wants him to, he will be considered a cheapskate who won’t part with a single penny.

For example: women think that giving a bouquet of flowers worth 5,000 yen (about US$50) would make them very happy, and spending such a small amount is nothing. Unfortunately, men think it can’t be eaten, so why spend a lot of money shopping for flowers? This point is regarded by women as “stingy.”

3. The Mistake Every Man in the World Makes: Dishonesty.

Hayashi Shinji points out that all women will say, “I hate people who lie.”

Even if they’ve been stood up, women still want to hear the real reason. Even something infuriating like “Writing a letter was too much trouble, so I didn’t reply to you that day” is better than finding a flimsy excuse that can be seen through at a glance.

In Japan, honesty is the most important thing.

Japanese women are very distinctive—gentle and fond of cleanliness, with refined clothing and attention to cooking. Aside from their preference for becoming homemakers after marriage, they retain both the virtue of the East (which, among Chinese women, perhaps only Chaozhou and Hakka women can rival) and the fashion of Western women, which should be said to match most men’s dream of an ideal wife. But before pursuing a Japanese woman, remember that you must fix your old bad habits first!
