The Health Promotion Administration recently issued a warning about the dangers of heated tobacco products (Heated Tobacco Products), calling on the public not to believe tobacco products that the industry claims can reduce harm, or to treat heated tobacco as a tool for quitting smoking.
The Health Promotion Administration states that using heated tobacco cannot help you quit smoking, and tobacco products (including heated tobacco and e-cigarettes) are all harmful to health.
Although some in the industry use the claim that heated tobacco releases less tar as a marketing tactic, medical research indicates that heated tobacco actually produces more harmful substances such as nitrosamines, acetaldehyde, acrolein, and formaldehyde.
A study in Saudi Arabia further found that the aerosol produced by heated tobacco contains 62 toxic chemical substances, including toxic substances such as diacetyl and dioctyl phthalate. Long-term use may cause damage to the heart, respiratory tract, and oral cavity, and there is still no conclusion on the safety of its long-term use, so it is recommended to avoid exposure as much as possible.
The Health Promotion Administration points out that quitting smoking is not easy, but the government provides nearly 3,500 contracted smoking-cessation medical institutions nationwide (hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies) offering smoking-cessation services, and smoking-cessation medications are exempt from copayment[3].
In addition, the public can also use the toll-free smoking-cessation hotline 0800-636363 or use the Line messaging app (ID: @tsh0800636363) for smoking-cessation-related consultation. Through professional assistance, you can successfully quit smoking and reclaim your own health and that of your family.
Once again, a reminder to everyone: heated tobacco is not a tool for quitting smoking; on the contrary, it is harmful to health. Heated tobacco also produces carcinogenic substances during use, and not only cannot help you quit smoking but also increases the risk of developing cancer.
For the sake of your health, please do not readily trust the marketing tactics of businesses that only want to make money. Please make good use of the channels provided by the government to receive smoking-cessation services, and give yourself and your family a friendlier environment.
