Recently online, I found some people trying to write advertorials to steer opinion, claiming that those who never swear tend to have a petty personality. They also advised the public to be more careful when associating with such people.

That article even packaged the 8+9 type, whose speech is mostly made up of profanity, as righteous, honorable, and open young people.

??? Who am I? Where am I? What am I doing? What on earth did I just read?

I did not even accuse those who swear of anything, yet people like us who do not swear got mud slung all over us first.

In fact, I never curse with foul language. Even when not cursing people, when I encounter excitement or panic in daily life, I do not spew filth all over the place.

Is Swearing a Field of Study?

Although critical commentary can become a lesson, I never expected that some people really treat swearing as a field of study, able to recite everything fluently from a single word to a string of dozens.

But I do not need to, nor do I want to, swear; my language habits have long been like this, and over the decades from childhood to now, I have never felt there was any problem with it.

Of course, hearing friends swear occasionally goes in one ear and out the other. After all, this is a language habit formed by each person’s family education and living environment, and it has nothing to do with a criterion of right and wrong for whether one can make friends.

But for the kind of person who chews betel nut with a mouth full of red, and habitually adds a profanity as a filler word to every sentence, it is hard for me to become friends with them from the very start. As the saying goes, those on different paths do not work together; why force something unsuitable?

However, this does not mean I do not know how those profanities are constructed. Rather than saying I dislike people who swear, it is more accurate to say I just dislike people using that kind of highly repetitive speech pattern that requires no brain. After all, even I feel a wave of annoyance when I repeat my own words.

Who Is the True Petty Person?

In the end, what kind of person would write advertorials to steer opinion, using whether someone swears as a basis for judging a person?

Obviously, it is those true petty people who make it their duty to dirty the world.
