The 2017 Taipei International Invention Show & Technomart was grandly exhibited from September 28 to 30 at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1. TAITRA held a pre-show press conference today (the 19th), unveiling several creative inventions in advance. It also announced that a New Southbound Policy zone will be set up this year, inviting 7 countries including Vietnam, the Philippines, India, Thailand, and Singapore to participate, strengthening links with New Southbound countries.

Chang Yu-ying, Deputy Director-General of the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, said in her remarks that this year 23 countries were specially invited, with nearly 1,500 patent inventions and technologies exhibited, and foreign buyers grew by as much as 152% over last year. In addition to creating a larger venture capital market, it is hoped that through this exhibition’s exchange platform, the world can see Taiwan’s R&D strength.

Among the creative inventions displayed today, there is the “world’s first IoT textile module” developed by the Industrial Development Bureau, which can monitor environmental temperature sensing, remotely control temperature and preheat, and has anti-loss and anti-theft devices through a mobile phone, with powerful functions applicable to medical, sports, and many other uses.

There is also the “USPACE smart ground lock,” which builds a parking space sharing platform, connecting the parking service system through hardware devices to quickly match the optimal parking space nearby and navigate directly; the “cancer detection chip,” which uses antibodies to detect cancer antigens in the global market — this technology is expected to save billions of dollars in antibody costs; and the “novel yeast application,” which can regulate blood sugar, obesity, and related symptoms.
