Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) reported that a strong earthquake struck eastern Japan today, with an initial estimated magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale. Japanese authorities have not issued a tsunami warning, and no casualties or damage have been reported.
The Meteorological Agency observed on the evening of the 28th that the epicenter of this earthquake was in northern Ibaraki Prefecture, at a depth of 10 kilometers, with a maximum intensity of lower 6.
Due to the impact of automatic power cuts, some sections of the Tokaido Shinkansen were temporarily suspended, and some sections of the Tohoku Shinkansen were also temporarily suspended.
